Crysis - Game Information - Weapons

Crysis provides the player with a large array of weapons to use against the enemy. Listed below are the currently known Delta Force, North Korean, and Alien weapons.

Delta Force Weapons
  • Hands: Several videos show the character being able to lift several very heavy objects (like large metal sheets, bins and dumpsters) and hurl them across a distance, if the player increases the strength of his suit. Hand-to-hand combat is also seen, with the strength modifier being used to punch enemies into submission. Another video showed the ability to capture an enemy by the neck and use him as a human shield while still being able to use your weapon. With the strength modifier, it's also possible to punch through different materials (like wood and sheet metal) so going through walls becomes quite easy

  • SCAR/MACs Assault Rifle: The SCAR (SOF Combat Assault Rifle) - Also referred to as the MACS Assault Rifle at GC 2006, is the standard assault rifle in Crysis, which can be modified into a light, but fast firing sniper rifle or a CQB rifle. It can also be loaded with special ammunition such as incendiary rounds, "tag" bullets that carry a transmitter to allow you to track the location of an enemy, remotely-triggered tranquilizers that will knock the enemy out instantly, as well as explosive remotely-triggered rounds. It should be noted that the in-game weapon is much closer in appearance to the XM8 than the FN SCAR.

  • LAW (XM102) Rocket Launcher: This shoulder mounted rocket launcher is able to destroy tanks, helicopters, and vehicles using futuristic targeting technology. Has 3 different types of ammo: unguided "dumb" missiles, heat seaking missles, and player guided missles.

  • XM2014 Shotgun: This standard shotgun can be modified to include a reflex sight, targeting laser or tactical flashlight.

  • MPXA Submachine Gun: This is a short range submachine gun also able to be modified to include a laser targeting system, reflex sight, tactical flashlight, and silencer.

  • GK8 Gauss Rifle: This is a high powered Gauss rifle that can be used effectively as both a mid and long range weapon.

  • DSG1 Sniper Rifle: This long range electromagnetic rifle fires metal slugs at a speed of 8 times the speed of sound (Mach 8). The developers call this weapon the "Anti-Vehicle Rifle". It can penetrate any wall or object. This is the primary sniper of the game.

  • SOCOM Pistol: This is the standard issue Delta Force Pistol.

  • Grenades:
    • Fragmentation Grenade: Fragmentation grenade that the player carries most of the time.
    • Smoke Grenades: Standard smoke grenades that fill a small area with smoke.
    • Flashbangs: Grenades that cause no damage but that temporarily make all in its radius blind and deaf.
    • Grenade Launchers: There currently two types of grenade launchers. The first are ones that can be modularized and equipped to many of the game's weapons. Currently only footage of them attached to assault rifles such as the SCAR has been shown but it may be possible to attach them to other weapons as most attachments can be put on almost all weapons, such as a sniper scope on a shotgun. The second is a nuclear grenade launcher. Little is known about this weapon other than it is acquired late in the single player campaign.

  • C4: Remote explosive charge that can be placed on a surface and detonated by the player.

  • Anti-tank Mine: Mines that can be placed on the ground. Useful for setting traps or protecting important areas from enemy vehicles.

  • Claymore: Mines that are used for protecting areas or setting traps, works aganist infantry but not vehicles.

  • Hand-Held Gatling Gun: Heavy weapon which can only be used if the player has a maximum level of strength in his suit.

  • Binoculars: Special binoculars that allow you to zoom in on enemies from far away distances or "tag" them so that they show up on your radar.

  • Airstrikes: While not a weapon able to be carried the player gains the ability to call in airstrikes later in the game.

North Korean Weapons
  • FY71 Assault Rifle: This is the primary weapon of the North Korean infantry and is basically the Korean version of the SCAR.

  • Precision Rifle: This is the Korean version of the DSG1 sniper rifle.

Alien Weapons
  • Molecular Accelerator: Used by the small multi-tentacled aliens, this weapon allows them to freeze the water and humidity from the air into icicles and hurl them at fast speeds. Due to its nature, the weapon has unlimited ammunition.

  • Molecular Arrestor: Used by the Hunters. Huge ice guns that fire a freezing ray at the enemy. The frozen target(s) can be shattered easily by bullets.

  • Singularity Cannon: Used by the aliens, this weapon shoots a "black hole" creating a large explosion that will attempt to suck anything into it.
