Crysis Warhead - System Requirements Revealed

Electronic Arts has revealed the system requirements to Crysis Warhead via its online store. While the original Crysis was universally praised for its graphics, many gamers were intimidated with the first-person shooter's system requirements. Crytek President Cevat Yerli has said that Crysis Warhead, the follow-up to the 2007 shooter, would be better optimized for a wider range of computers and should run anywhere between 30-35 frames per second at high settings on a $620 rig. CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (3.2 GHz for Vista), Intel Core 2.0 GHz (2.2 GHz for Vista), AMD Athlon 2800+ (3200+ for Vista) or better
RAM: 1GB (1.5GB on Windows Vista)

While the technical specifications are nearly identical to the recommended specs of the original Crysis, three more gigs of hard drive space are required for Warhead. Gamers can test out their gaming rigs when Warhead launches on September 16.

Up down, up down, up down. It seems minimum and recommended requirements are being scattered all over the net. All the reports in question have either been flagged as incorrect or non-finalized. Finally though, a source even more reliable than the EA Store. System Requirements Lab have now added Crysis to their list of games for which they test against your computer hardware and software. So you not only learn of the minimum & recommended requirements for Crysis, but you also get to see exactly how well your systems stacks up against them.

Crysis will no doubt be a fairly demanding game. It will require a good system to perform well. However, CryEngine2 is very scalable so lower end machines will still stand a chance.

Here is a list of confirmed information...

• Crysis will run on both DX9 & DX10 as well as Windows XP and Windows Vista.
• A graphics card that supports Shader Model 2 or higher is required.
• CryEngine2 is estimated to scale back 2 years, and scale ahead 1.5 years.
• A single 7800GTX will run the game quite well on fairly high settings according to Crysis Art Director, Michael Khaimzon.
• Jack Mamais of Crytek said in an exclusive Crysis-Online interview that his X1900XT runs the game very well at reasonably high settings ( still unoptmized ).
• Crysis will dynamically utilize all processing threads available. Meaning quad-core processors will be supported.

Once again, these are estimates only and are no way official. I just want to make sure that is as clear as possible. Keep in mind that Crysis is still a few months away from release, so the hardware making up the minimum specs will be more ore less three years old by that time.
